Another year has lifted like the morning mist, 2021 is now a memory book. So we open a new book, full of pages yet to be filled. Last year for Winters Wind was quite the road of discovery. We moved to Oklahoma and after 6 months moved back to the prairie! Covid effected my husbands position and I so longed for my prairie life. So it was a blessing and curse to pack everything up once again and move back to the north. Those of you who have moved very much understand my comment on a blessing and a curse. Try adding into the mix 3 horses, 3 cats and 15 dogs! We had puppies at this time as well! We had some great moments as well! Winters Wind added 2 new homebred AKC Champion titles and Perla our latest addition joined our family. PCA held good success for Winters Wind as well. Henry took 2nd in his class and Perla took 3rd in her class. It has been my dream to have my Poodles compete at PCA. I was very sad to not add that I was able to go. Once again I am battling severe health issues and with Covid still active; I am in isolation most of the time. Than again are you really isolated with all the animals to love and talk to? I don’t think so 😀
Rob and I (before I knew of my diagnosis) went to visit dear friends in Croatia. It was such an amazing time, relaxed, with so much laughter and fellowship, that I felt restored. The big surprise was that Rob was getting a puppy! Not just any puppy…..but an Indigo grandson. Indigo, was Rob’s multicolored poodle. They were quite the team, earning a UKC Grand Champion title, CGC, Lure Coursing , Fly Disc and doing dock jump together! When Indigo retired, Rob was working out of town; so he made the tough decision to re-home Indigo. Indigo, now lives with two retired veterinarians and and goes to the beach everyday. They keep us posted with photos and the fun antics that Indigo loves to do.
There is and anticipation of what this year will bring for us at Winters Wind. We have some nice breeding plans for 2022. You can find that information on our up coming litters page. I am excited to say we are adding, Shelby Smith Cptd-ka, a certified trainer to our team! Shelby is moving from Texas to the prairie to learn more about breeding poodles and to do some training. Watch for our dogs in the performance ring with Shelby! She is also planning to show some of our upcoming poodles in the UKC conformation ring! I am so happy to have her here!
We have a few new additions to our poodle family as well. Nova is out of our Seville and Zane, she will be going to Terri Meyers for showing in the AKC ring. Nova is a lovely silver girl who has just the right amount of sugar and spice! I will post her picture with this blog.
Another new comer is Lily, out of our Alexa She looks just like her grandpa, AM CH UCH Edivette Black Temptation At Winterswind “Drakkar”. Watch for her in the ring as well, she is petite like her grandsire, with the same beautiful neck and head.
Jolene, joined us from Lavenders Stunning Standards and is a dark red, spunky gal! Shelby, will be taking her into performance and conformation for me since I am not able to.
Sky Fyre, joined us from a breeder in Texas, our Logi came from her as well. He is retired and a service dog now. Frye, is a dark red and you can imagine Jolene and Fyre puppies will be stunning.
We have retired a few of our dogs and they all have gone into service work. This makes me so proud of the dogs we have; versatile, intelligent and adaptable to new situations and work. The hard part for me is the letting go. I love them all, but I realize that it’s the right thing to find the ideal home for each one. Finding homes where they can continue to be productive and have the ability…..well that’s the best anyone could want for them!
Only 4 days into January 2022, but the future looks bright!
Check back monthly for updates on all the things that we are doing…..the ups and downs we experience.
